DESCRIPTION: “Sierra Leone – A Rotarian’s story” Alan Wolstencroft from Banbury RC\n\nAlan first visited Sierra Leone in November 2005 as a volunteer member of Rotary Mission Challenge\, working on a Mercy Ships project.\nRotarians were invited to volunteer with them & “spend 11 days in Sierra Leone and make a real difference”.\nHe thought it would be a “one off” life experience BUT it was life changing and he’s now visited the country 12 times.\nOn his second visit Alan saw the opportunity to work directly with a school\, to fund a much-needed additional classroom.\nAlan has supported 8 schools (to varying degrees)\, a Community football Club and several individuals.\nSince January 2007\, when he funded his first project\, AlansAfrica has been adopted as a Banbury Rotary Club project and has resulted in the funding the building and equipping of 35 classrooms\, 8 toilet blocks and 3 wells as well as many refurbishment projects.
