SUMMARY:President gets a second chance
DESCRIPTION:The President of Warwick Rotary\, David Brain has been given a second chance!  When his successor was unable to take over the post David– 80 yrs young\, volunteered to carry on for a second year. Many of the club’s events\, including the Thai festival and Schools Concert were cancelled due to Coronavirus but will return in 2021. \nDavid Brain has only been a member at Warwick since 2017\, but an active member of Rotary for 26 years. His charities last year were Graham Fulford Trust supporting PSA tests for Prostate Cancer and the Air Ambulance. Each of these has now received a cheque for £1\,000 and it is hoped to do a presentation when meetings resume. \nDavid presided over a busy year with open meetings to attract new recruits – 6 new members joined the club\, but with many retiring this year new blood is still welcome. The club is keen to invite the many people who volunteered to help the community during Coronavirus to continue their involvement by joining our ranks. The club has been active with donations to Foodbank\, food parcels\, Safeline\, Scrubbers\, needy children and others\, but now needs to get back to raising the money to carry on helping others. Volunteering is an enjoyable way of getting involved and gives its own sense of satisfaction.    Annually the club raises over £40\,000 and gives out a similar amount to good causes. \nThe “handover” meeting was held on Zoom and David’s new charities will be Molly Olly’s wishes and Guide Dogs for the Blind.    Members are getting used to meeting weekly via Zoom and a full programme of speakers has resumed.    Next week Shelterbox will be telling about their work overseas\, and details can be found on our website and Facebook accounts. \nPresident 2019-2021 \n  \n
