Oct27 - Young scholars come to Lunch

Rotary Club of Warwick recently welcomed young students from local secondary schools to their annual scholar’s lunch.

Eight final year students from Myton, Kings High, Warwick and Aylesford sixth forms, together with their teachers, joined Rotarians for lunch at Warwick Hilton and talked about their aspirations for the future.

Rotarian Laurie Day told the audience about the work of Rotary in the community and reminded them of their huge advantage in being able to get an education.

The Rotary Club organises a number of events aimed at Young People – Youth Speaks – a public speaking competition; a schools concert in June,  whilst junior pupils enjoy Pancake races, receive school dictionaries, and Kids Out day at Drayton Manor Park. The club has also responded to natural disasters around the world, recently sending over 2,000 teddy bears to children in the Philippines traumatised by Typhoon Haiyan.

President Elect John Taylor thanked them for taking time out from preparing for their exams and wished them every success for the future.
