The Rotary Club of Warwick welcomed Cllr Andrew Boad, Chair of Warwick District Council, Cllr Stephen Cross, Mayor of Warwick, and Jayne Topham, Town Clerk, to their meeting on November 22nd for the annual Civic Lunch.
After lunch Cllr Alan Boad complimented the club for existing for over 50 years, and organising events for the town such as the Thai festival and Town Bonfire. Warwick is prosperous with a good university and fast links to London, and apart from the car industry now has over 7,000 people working in computing. It is a good place to live, a good place to work, and great to visit.
Cllr Stephen Cross told the club how the issues faced by Warwick were also found in the twinning towns he had visited. People are proud of Warwick and its lively community. Rotarian volunteers and the activities they organise contribute to it’s atmosphere making it an attractive place to live.
President John Hibben referred to the close co-operation between the District and Town Council’s in providing support to our events. He thanked the guests for their work on behalf of the town, and wished them well for the remainder of their busy year in office.
