Jun16 - Local charities rewarded by Rotary Club

Two local charities received donations from the President of the Rotary Club of Warwick at their meeting last Wednesday.

The first recipient was Rachel Ollerenshaw of ‘Molly Olly’s Wishes’ who received a cheque for £1,000 towards their work with sick children. Rachel said that in the last year the charity had been able to fund 120 wishes to make the lives of young patients easier. “Ollie the Brave” packs had been sent out to hospitals across the region and a further book about Ollies treatment is being printed for the new year.

The second donation was also for £1,000 for the Aylesford Unit at Warwick Hospital. The unit recently won the top national Cancer Nursing Award for the quality of their treatment. The donation will go to help make the Aylesford unit more comfortable for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Carol Connor is pictured here with President Jon Wassall who thanked them for their care for the people of Warwick.

The donations were the result of a year’s hard work by the club collecting at stores and in club raffles on behalf of the “President’s Charities” chosen by club President Jon Wassall, who hands over the presidency of the club at the end of the month.
Jon thanked club members for their hard work and said how impressed the club was with the quality of the caring offered by both organisations.
