Rotary Club Of Warwick

Sep30 - Would I Lie to you?

Warwick Rotarians gathered for their first evening get together in many months this Wednesday for a light- hearted evening based on the popular TV show.

Over 30 Rotarians and guests gathered with friends from Stratford, Coventry and other local clubs and after a 2 course meal President Paul Jaspal had some important business. He awarded Rotarian Alan Bailey with a Long Service Award for his 45 years in Rotary, during which he has helped to raise thousands of pounds for charities both here and abroad.

Then 3 teams assembled to try and hoodwink their colleagues. Tales were told of driving through Nicaragua to be ambushed by bandits; being invited to Buckingham Palace and walking into the wrong room to see a baby prince naked in his cot; and a Soviet guard called Putin escorting a foreign visitor. We leave it to you to guess which were true! The winning team were presented with bottles of fizz as a reward.

After announcing raffle prizes and the winners of the 100 Club draw, the evening concluded with the Toast “Rotary and Peace the World over” raised by Past District Governor Margaret Morley.

Spirits were raised, as well as over £150 for the Presidents charities. Fellowship and friendships re-established, Rotarians are ready to get back to normal and regular lunch -time meetings are resumed at Warwick Hilton – now known as M40(J15).
