Rotary Club Of Warwick

Jul20 - Zoe Parker – Regional Junior Cyclocross Champion

Last week Rotarians heard from Zoe Parker a young cyclist, born and bred in Warwick.

Zoe started peddling at 3 yrs old, and although she competes in many cycling disciplines, such as road racing, track cycling and mountain biking her first love is for cyclocross, which is best described as a hybrid of between road cycling, mountain biking and steeplechase.

The club assisted Zoe with the costs of competing last season and she came to tell us how she had got on.

Zoe talked enthusiastically about her competitions in cyclocross last year, starting in Derby National Series, getting to compete in Belgium, and claiming the West Midlands Regional Junior Champion title. She finished the season ranked no1 female junior rider in the country.

The club was very impressed with her commitment, resilience and boundless energy. When not training or competing she goes on cycling holidays with her father.

She is now at Myton concentrating on her A levels, but this is a young lady to watch out for!
